Saadia Organics Argan Oil
What people are saying about Saadia Organics Argan Oil: “It’s kept my toddler’s diaper rash at bay.  As long as we keep using the Argan Oil, he’s fine!” “My hair was feeling like straw after a long winter.  I worked some Argan Oil through it one night and slept with a shower cap over it.  After I washed it the next morning, it felt like silk.” “Someone once told me the pores on my face were big and that comment stuck with me.  After using this stuff, they have totally shrunk.” “My forehead used to be super oily.  After using Argan Oil for just a few days the oiliness disappeared.  Who would think that oil would get rid of oily skin?” “You know those bumps you get on your bikini line?  Ingrown hairs, razor burn and all of that awful stuff?  On a whim when things were looking pretty bad, I put Argan Oil on my skin.  The red bumps and irritation were gone the next morning.” “I scar very easily.  I’ve had some reddish scars on my very pale skin for years.  After using Argan Oil on them for just a few days they are not nearly as noticeable.” “I’m a guy with psoriasis.  Someone recommended this oil to me and I gave it a try.  It works better than the prescription I get from my doctor.” “I’m getting to the point in life where when I pushed down on my skin with a fingertip, the skin stayed indented.  It didn’t bounce back.  Now that I’m using Argan Oil regularly, my skin springs right back to where it should be.” “No more pimples for me!  I’ve spent years avoiding products with oil in them to help with my acne.  Now I’m putting pure Argan Oil on my face and my skin finally looks great.” “My daughter gets little patches of eczema on her face.  Argan Oil takes it away after a couple of applications.  It’s nice not to have to use hydrocortisone on her anymore.” “My wrinkles are disappearing!  I particularly hate the ones on my forehead.  I barely notice them anymore.” “We are a cloth diaper family.  We love our adorable, fluffy diapers and are really terrified of letting regular diaper rash cream anywhere near them.  This Argan Oil has been a God-send.  It works great.  As a crunchy mama, I’m glad it’s all natural.  It also keeps our diapers looking good and absorbing well.” “I had the worst cracked heels in the universe.  For many years.  I couldn’t even go in for a pedicure.  Within a week of using your Argan Oil a couple of times a day my feet actually started to look normal.  I’m thrilled.
The Fruit of the Argan Tree
Despite its naturally nutty aroma, Argan Oil is not made from a nut at all.  Argania spinosa trees are fruit bearing, and Argan Oil is made from the kernel inside of the pit of the fruit.  So this product is nut-free.   The extraction of the oil from that kernel inside the fruit is done by hand at Saadia Organics by Saadia herself and her hardworking team of women. This hand extraction process is very time consuming. The fruit of the Argan tree is green in early spring and then turns gold.  At that point it is then picked and opened.  The outer layer of fruit is given to local goats to enjoy and the pits are taken from the inside of the fruit. These pits are then allowed to dry in the marvelous Moroccan sun. Then the hard work begins.  Each pit is cracked between two stones.  The kernels are then removed, and ground into a thick paste by hand with a stone quern. The paste is then squeezed to produce the oil.

One of my favourite things to do in Morocco is to visit the hammam.  A hammam is a steam-filled public spa.  You can spend the equivalent of a dollar or two and do all of the work yourself, or you could spend a few dollars more and have the work done by someone else.  And let me tell you — these ladies are skilled and they know what they’re doing. If you ever get the chance to go to a hammam – you will feel *amazing* when you’re through. If you have no plans to go to Morocco any time soon and you would like to try to duplicate this soothing, yet invigorating ritual at home – keep reading. You will need just a few things: Pure Argan Oil A ‘Kessa’ or Moroccan Exfoliating Glove Some Beldi/Savon Noir/Black Soap Your usual bath/shower essentials If you are missing any of the above items, Saadia Organics can help you!  Order some Argan Oil and...

BUT your pets can benefit from Argan Oil, too. We are pug lovers.  My parents currently have two:  Elliot and Oliver. As you can see – they have a very rough life. One thing about pugs – their little noses get dry.  Our pugs are now spoiled and get their noses moisturized with Argan Oil every single day. Elliot, the poor guy, has allergies.  And he often gets itchy.  Everyone knows what it’s like to have an itch and end up scratching and scratching and scratching.  Your poor skin suffers.  A lot. When Elliot gets the itchies he is happy to see our little blue bottle come out.  Argan Oil soothes his worst spots and heals them more quickly, too. Be assured that our Argan Oil is safe to use on your pets.  Remember that Argan Oil is also eaten daily by many Moroccans.  Our raw, cosmetic grade Argan Oil doesn’t taste quite as yummy as it’s roasted,...

Our family went to Morocco in March.  This is when I received our first batch of hand-pressed Argan Oil from my mother in law, Saadia. I was so excited to start using it and importing it that I wanted to know more about Argan Oil right from the source. In my last post I mentioned that my husband, Greg, had often tried to get me interested in Argan Oil.  But now that I was interested, he seemed to tune out a little.  Actually, he tuned out a LOT.  As is clear from this snap shot of a conversation at his mother’s house. A Conversation at Saadia’s House:    “Men Just Don’t Get It” Joèl:   Greg, ask the ladies how they use Argan Oil. Greg, bored:  You just use it on your face and in your hair and on your nails. Joèl:  Well I know THAT.  There has got to be more.  Ask them!  Please. Greg, in Derija:  Blah blah blah blah blah. The Ladies, in Derija, all at...

I had been to Morocco a half dozen times and I didn’t give this Argan Oil stuff a second thought.  I’d even visited a nice little co-op just outside Essaouira.  I’d heard my Moroccan husband telling me about this ‘fabulous stuff that’s only made in Morocco’.  I couldn’t have cared less.  Then I saw different products popping up here at home containing a bit of Argan Oil.  And I STILL didn’t pay much attention. Then during an eyelid-related crisis a year ago I finally got curious.  My 35 year old eyelids aged 20 years.  They were bright pink and burned.  Nothing helped except 2.5% hydrocortisone cream which can thin the skin terribly.  I was beyond desperate.  Then I moaned to my husband and he grabbed some Argan Oil (for cooking!) from our kitchen cupboard.  First, it smelled divine.  I wanted to drizzle it on a salad. ...

We, Joèl and Ainslie, are so excited to get the purest, most authentic, eco-friendly Argan Oil from Essaouira, Morocco to Vancouver, BC to you. Unfortunately, there is a LOT of Argan Oil out there that is of poor quality.  Much of it isn’t even Argan Oil at all.  But we know exactly who is making our oil and how it is being made because I (Joèl) am related to these fabulous women. Our company is named after my mother in law, Saadia who has been making Argan Oil for cosmetic and culinary use since she was a young girl.  She is our Production Manager and makes much of our Argan Oil herself.  As demand increases, so does her staff.  Fortunately, we have a lot of relatives over in Essaouira, and they love gathering together to get this Argan Oil made for you. So whatever you need Argan Oil for:  Troubled skin.  Wrinkles.  Your hair.  Your nails.  Your baby’s...
